Of our population of approximately 68 million, around 84% of us live in urban areas. Most of our population growth is in cities. Despite the Covid effect, as with most of the rest of the world, there’s a slight trend towards people leaving rural life for places with higher population density.

The many towns and cities of Britain are known all over the world. They are the inspiration for and backdrop to a phenomenal array of endeavours: scientific, artistic, sporting and many more. You could fill up a lifetime of holidays visiting every exciting town and city in the Britain. Just reading about their history would be enough in itself to keep you occupied. That’s before you’ve even sampled all the modern attractions: arts, museums, eating out, nightlife and all the rest.
